Friday Night ‘Charity Knit Nights’
on behalf of
Operation Gratitude
Every Friday in August
6:00pm - 9:00 pm
Knitters/crocheters – ever wanted your finished wares to be INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNIZED? Here’s your opportunity, come knit or crochet scarves or hats for OPERATION GRATITUDE! This Los Angeles based organization annually sends 100,000 care packages filled with snacks, entertainment items, personal letters of appreciation as well as HATS and SCARVES addressed to individually named U.S. Service Members deployed in hostile regions around the world. Their mission is to lift morale, bring a smile to a service member’s face and express to them the appreciation and support of all of us here back home. 60,000 scarves are needed for the holiday packages–please help!
Bring your own size 8 or 9 knitting needles or size G or H crochet hooks and bulky yarn if you have them - we will have ‘communal projects’ for you to pick up and continue. During our Charity Knit Month, welcome ALL donations of needles, hooks, yarn and cash. If you’re not a crocheter or a knitter don’t worry, you can still contribute to Operation Gratitude. The value of donations that go into each care package is approximately $140, then it costs about $15 to assemble and ship each one, and you can donate on line at their web site. Any purchases made at Colors 91711 for this Charity Project will receive a 10% discount.
If you cannot make Fridays, please stop by any time during the month of August, sign in when you arrive as for every hour that you come along to Colors 91711 to knit/crochet a scarf/hat, you will be given a ticket to enter a drawing for a prize – so the more hours you come along, the better your chances of winning something wonderful from the following generous retailers and fitness studios.
Barbara Cheatley Antiques, Bamboo Tea House, Mint Leaf Thai Massage, 42nd Street Bagel, Casa Moreno Mexican Grill, Bua Thai Restaurant, Walter Cholewa - Hand Made Artisan Crafts from Argentina, Pedal Spin Studio, Green Tara Yoga Studio - Upland, Rio de Ojas, Colors 91711 and Susan Adams Author - books and gifts from the heart.
